Argyll Vehicles are pleased to offer this 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2.1 Diesel Automatic Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, professionally converted by TBC Conversions to provide an exceptionally versatile solution for wheelchair users requiring either drive-from-wheelchair capability or the option to travel as a passenger.
This is a highly specialised conversion which offers considerably more flexibility than a conventional Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle. The vehicle can be driven directly from a suitable wheelchair using the fitted docking system, allowing the wheelchair user to position themselves securely at the controls without having to transfer into the driver's seat.
For drive-from-wheelchair use, the original driver's seat is fitted with a release system which allows it to be removed from the driving position and relocated to the rear passenger area when required. Push/pull hand controls, a steering ball and electric handbrake are also fitted, providing adapted driving controls for a suitable wheelchair user.
Importantly, the vehicle does not have to be used solely as a drive-from-wheelchair vehicle. A wheelchair user can instead travel securely in the rear passenger area, allowing the Sprinter to be driven conventionally from the original driver's seat.
The spacious conversion also provides the possibility of carrying an additional wheelchair user in the rear while another wheelchair user drives from the front position, making this an extremely adaptable vehicle for a wide variety of mobility requirements.
Wheelchair access is particularly straightforward thanks to the remote-controlled system. At the touch of a button, the rear doors operate automatically and the Ricon powered wheelchair lift provides easy access into and out of the vehicle, removing the need for a conventional manual wheelchair ramp.
The vehicle provides seating for up to 4 occupants plus space for a wheelchair or mobility scooter, depending on the chosen configuration.
